As a woman, mother, partner, global citizen, and lifetime learner, Adriana Medeiros draws from her extraordinary life and exceptional academic training to offer her clients a blend of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, effective new treatment modalities and healing somatic experiences. Adriana began her journey of service as a young teacher in São Paulo, Brazil where after graduating from the Universidade Metodista, she founded a center for training teachers and for teaching English to business executives. Adriana eventually moved the United Kingdom to attend Westminster College. She settled in London, completed her education, started a family and taught English to soccer players (including players from Manchester United) and Portuguese to British Diplomats on assignment to Brazil.
After years of living in Europe, Adriana and her family relocated to New York where she raised her kids and worked as Director of Cross-Cultural Training at a prominent language center. Her journey continued to the San Francisco Bay Area where she founded the global non-profit CafeKind. Focused on promoting kindness and compassion in all aspects of life, CafeKind links thousands of women to a healing network of support through online and in-person workshops. Adriana’s ongoing work at CafeKind compelled her to pursue her lifelong dream of personal service. She enrolled in the Stanford University Medical School Center for Applied Compassion Studies and Research where she obtained a teaching certificate.
With her new training and life focus, Adriana became a Licensed Domestic Violence Counselor and helped victims of domestic abuse find safety and regain dignity. Through this experience, Adriana realized that she could do more by becoming a mental health professional. She enrolled in the Pepperdine University School of Education and Psychology where she earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology and achieved outstanding academic recognition. As part of her educational residency training, Adriana provided both individual and group therapy to adolescents, young adults, families and seniors facing end of life issues. She has received training in a broad range of new modalities including Family Systems Therapy, Brainspotting, Solutions Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Movement Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, Foundational Gestalt Therapy and Life Transition Counseling.
In January 2024, Adriana founded the Center for Self-Compassion and Healing (CESELF) in Los Angeles, California. CESELF’S mission is to provide a safe space to heal through self-compassion, mindfulness, and movement.
